Spinal Column Stimulation

Treatment for Pain in

Spine

Dermatome Specific Stimulators

Dermatome Specific or Dorsal Root Ganglion (DRG) stimulation provides targeted pain relief for those with difficult-to-treat chronic pain – particularly in the foot, knee, hip, bladder or groin. This therapy is effective for people with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) and other conditions who have been unable to treat their condition with rehabilitation, medication or traditional dorsal column stimulation.

Dorsal Column Stimulators

Dorsal Column Stimulators, also called Spinal Cord Stimulators, require a minor surgical procedure to implant the system components. During the procedure, one or more leads are placed in the epidural space (the space just above the spinal cord). The leads contain electrodes that produce the electrical signals that result in stimulation. The leads are then connected to a small electronic battery placed just under the skin. Dorsal column stimulators are used more frequently for chronic low back and leg pain that has not responded to other treatments.
