Dr. Lawrence Stinson, President and co-founder of Advanced Pain Centers of Alaska, is a lifelong Alaskan. Dr. Stinson and his partner established Advanced Pain Centers of Alaska in 2000 with the goal of bringing the best medical care possible and, more specifically interventional pain medicine, to the people of Alaska. Dr. Stinson is double board certified in anesthesiology and pain medicine, and is a member of several medical organizations including the International Spinal Injection Society, the American Medical Association and the American Society of Anesthesiologists. He has authored numerous manuscripts, abstracts and book chapters in the fields of pain management and anesthesiology.
Dr. Stinson graduated from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks with honors before earning a medical degree from the University of Washington. He completed his residency in anesthesiology at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Stinson returned to Fairbanks to practice for six years where he developed a specialized interest in pain management. He moved his family to Tucson, Arizona where he participated in the University of Arizona’s Subspecialty Fellowship Training in Pain Management. Dr. Stinson has served on both the Alaska State Medical Board and the Alaska Healthcare Commission. He has also been a WWAMI Clinical Instructor for the University of Washington.
Dr. Stinson and his family enjoy traveling both within and outside of Alaska, fishing, hiking, sports and various other outdoor activities. They are strong supporters of their local church and youth ministries as well as numerous community events.
